A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between MODON and TEST to improve safety in industrial cities

The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Testing Equipment Specialists Team (TEST), with the aim of joint cooperation to raise the level of occupational safety and health within the industrial cities.

The General Director of MODON, Eng. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Salem, and CEO of TEST Othman Bin Talib Al-Zahrani revealed that the MoU will provide support and address challenges, study needs and approve the roadmap for setting a global framework for occupational safety and health in industrial cities, as well as proposing regulations. To develop a safety management system, inspection procedures and licenses.

He explained that the cooperation between the two sides will include training and qualifying capabilities in this field, and contribute to the creation of a safe and stimulating work environment to attract and localize investments in order to strengthen the strategy of «MODON» in the empowerment of industry and increase local content in various industries, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to diversify sources of national income And the adoption of industry as a strategic choice.

The MoU also provides for the creation of technical manuals for investors in the field of occupational safety and health.

He pointed out that MODON is interested in the safety sector, which attaches great importance to its important role in promoting sustainable development, as it works to establish safety standards and besieging risks and disasters in the investment environment, pointing out that «MODON» has established a safety management system «Safety Management System» according to the best standards of ISO 45001 aims to raise the level of safety processes within the industrial cities, and monitor the commitment of industrial establishments to implement them, through the appointment of experts and specialists in this field, in addition to training employees and raising their preventive awareness on the foundations and standards aimed at enhancing performance levels. Improving the level of occupational health and safety to protect members of the community and mitigate risks, and also maintain environmental resources.

He pointed to the launch of an electronic supportive system for the safety management system includes five new services: risk assessment, safety audit, inspection, follow-up correcting observations, and the issuance of business licenses electronically, and we strictly monitor the compliance of factories in all industrial cities to the specified requirements, through Implementation of monthly field visits and reporting of results, as well as the adoption of «MODON» classification of factories according to their severity.

Since its inception in 2001, MODON has been engaged in the development of full-service industrial lands in accordance with the highest international standards. Today, it oversees 35 existing industrial cities under development in various regions of the Kingdom, as well as overseeing private industrial complexes and cities.

The developed industrial land has exceeded 198.8 million square meters so far, and the existing industrial cities include 3,474 productive factories.
